Custom Build Reel seats

Struble Reel Seats
The Custom Build reel seats are made by Struble Manufacturing, Sutherlin, Oregon. Our Custom Builds will use either the U15HG or the U18HG reel seats. Both are salt water duty reel seats made from machined aluminum, and hard anodized. The anodizing colors are available in your choice of Black, Pewter, or Green.
The HG series reel seats have double lock nut hold downs, with integral mill slotted Delren lock rings to prevent back out. The upper hoods have milled expansion slots to securely lock the reel foot firmly within the hood. These are the finest quality and most secure reel seats we have found.
For the old Hardy Perfect reels with the 3.75 legs we offer the Struble SDS, these available in Black, Pewter, and Green.
REC Reel Seats
We do also have available the REC SWUAC, and the SPGE aluminum reel seats. The SWUAC seats have wood inserts. We have several custom milled exotic wood inserts available for these classic and functional reel seats. These are ideal wood insert reel seats for the old Hardy Perfect 3.75 legs.
Optional Solid Milled Titanium Reel Seats
Struble does have a series of extremely durable seats designed specifically for the tough salt water fishery. These incredibly functional, ultra light seats are machined from solid Titanium, and are 100 % salt water corrosion free.

Optional Traditional UK Style Reel Seats
The Struble Traditional reel seats can be built to meet the requirements of any reel leg length, and are a favorite of those anglers that will wish to use the original legs of the Hardy Perfects. These have a timeless traditional look: Very simple, yet totally functional. The Traditional reel seats will have custom milled cork or wood barrel inserts.
Custom Build Guide Systems
Our Hard Chrome snake guides are made in the USA for us by "Snake Brand" guides of Battleground, WA.
Our Custom Build snake guides are made from salt water grade stainless steel wire with hard chrome coating. The legs of the Snake Brand guides are all individually milled, not stamped and ground as are all other snake guides. The under side of each snake leg is rolled with a radius to perfectly seat on the blank. No secondary preparation is required on these jewelry grade snake guides.
The single greatest advantage of the finely radiused and milled snake guide legs is that they will offer only the minimal possibility of abrasion to the walls of the rod blank.
These are without question the finest wire Hard Chrome snake guides available.
Titanium plated Stainless Steel wire snakes are also available as Custom Build snakes.
Custom Build Stripper Guides
Our standard Custom Build stripper guides have frosted Titanium frames with SIC hardness ceramic rings. These guides are custom made for our shop. Ceramic rings are available in either Metallic Silver or Bronze/Gold.
Optional Stripper Guides
For the two handed angler that will demand the most traditional look of stripper guides, we do now offer the Snake Brand Agate ring stripper guides. These are true jewelry quality Nickel Silver housed solid Agate ringed guides. They are the most elegant, functional, and traditional of all stripping guides available.
We do also offer silver wire, carbide ring stripper guides. These are extremely heavy duty, classic looking guides to give your rod a unique look.

Custom Build Grip Assemblies

I truly believe that the grip assembly is one of the most important aspects to consider when designing a custom rod for the two handed angler: Second only to the rod blank itself. Our standard grip profiles, and the materials chosen to build them are the result of many years of feed back from our two handed anglers world wide, including world distance casting champions. These are casters that spend hours upon houses of casting time with their rods perfecting their art, and demand a comfortable and balanced grip assembly.
Not only must the overall grip length correctly match the rods length to aide in overall balance, but the grip profile must also comfortably fit the anglers hand size. Correct hand spread distance between the upper and lower grips must be considered to best match the anglers personal casting requirements.
The grip profiles must be slim enough to enhance (and actually discipline) a relaxed "friendly" delivery. There is no joy in the ache of a cramped hand or wrist resulting from an overly large diameter, incorrectly profiled two handed grip.
All of our grips are individually built and hand glued ring on ring: We do not use any preformed grips on our custom rods. Our cork grips are made up of the finest cork rings available on the world market. All of our grips will be accented with Burl cork and rubberized cork rings. This not only adds a unique look to the grip, but it will also reinforce the hard-used areas of both the upper and lower grips.
In short... We take thoughtful care with the individual build-up and design of our custom grips to meet the specific needs of our anglers.

We do also offer optional Jungle Cock alignment marks at the ferrule assemblies
Although I am a firm believer that function is ultimately the primary concern when building a fly rod, we can create a totally unique statement for your custom rod with a feather weave inlay. The feather inlay is placed and covered with epoxy just as any brand label would be on a factory made rod. The inlay will not detract from the rods function or durability.
Hand Written Rod Description and R.B.Meiser Logo
All of the Custom Build rods will come standard with my hand written rod description, R.B. Meiser Rods logo, determined grain window, month and year. The rod will also be personalized with your name or other detail of your description and choosing.
Rod Cases
Our standard Custom Build Cordura rod and reel combo cases are made for us by Clear Creek, made in the USA. These are extremely handsome, durable ABS tube cases with zippered tops, interior partitions, and carrying handles.
Our standard powder coated aluminum tube rod cases and socks are made by Landmark, Denver, Colo. These have Gold anodized water proof screw cap / collar and Gold anodized butt cap ~ With sock.
We do also offer optional Rod & Reel combination cordura cases with interior partitions and carrying handles.
Optional Custom Made Leather Rod Cases by Robert Cochrane: Calgary, Alberta Canada
Robert Cochrane is a superb leather craftsman, building rod and gun cases in the traditional Old English Coach and Harness tradition. These are totally functional, incredibly durable leather and brass works of art that must be viewed to be appreciated.
Special orders for these fine cases can be arranged through my shop, and will need to be discussed in detail, as dimensions of these cases will be made custom made to fit the specific rod.
Standard Build Components
The Standard Built rods are made for the angler that will wish the more modest pricing, or will not wish to have the custom component or cosmetic options as would the Custom Built R.B. Meiser rods.
These are finely made rods built in my shop. They do meet our criteria as "Pride of Ownership" fishing tools.
Components
- Rods will come standard with our own custom designed hard anodized reel seats available in Pewter.
- Blank color will be Charcoal gloss
- Our ceramic strippers are custom designed, and made specifically for our shop: Frosted Stainless steel frames with Gold/bronze SIC hardness ceramic rings.
- Hard Chrome plated Stainless Steel wire snakes and tip tops
- All grips are custom milled using our standard spec. profiles.
- Thread work will be Black with Antique Bronze metallic tipping at the butt and ferrules, with black guide wraps.
- All rods will come with our standard Cordura covered PVC tube and partitioned liners.
