Highlander Classic S2H15068C-4
Highlander S Series S2H1507S-4
The 15'0" 6/7/8 Highlander Classic and 7 wt S rods are practical, light weight big river tools suitable for all game fish to the high teens. These 15'0" rods are sweet casting, light to medium-duty finesse tools ideal for our medium to large river systems.
These are rods that we have had in the works for a number of years. With the recent availability of balanced lines for these light weight long rods; they have now become very practical grease line fishing tools.
They are absolutely delightful tools to cast long distances all day, yet do have the power and durability to defeat game fish well in to the mid-teen range. They have a very crisp and authoritive fast/medium fast speed of recovery, with a flex that will be nicely felt well into the cork when under full line load.
The Highlander Classic is by definition a “Sweet" grease line tool. She is ideal for bright water situations where dry fly skating and riffle-hitch presentations are the most desirable means to raise a player. In accomplished hands she will consistently reach delivery distances well into 100' range. She will do so with any well designed mid belly Spey line, or full floating short belly Spey line with 15' Poly Leaders looped on to extend the front taper.
The S rod is a light weight Scandi rocket launcher as well as a fine grease liner. She will have a bit more tip to mid-flex then will the Classic, and a slightly faster speed of recovery.
Both will accomplish the same goals but will do them in slightly different ways.
With a grain window of 450 to 750 grains both of these rods have the power reserve and length to up the line grains, and then be allowed to dig into a fair wind making them very useful tools during those afternoon thermals typical of many of our lager river canyons.
