S2H117567 ~ 4pc. ~ 5/6/7wt. ~ Fast Progressive New for 2005
|
The 5/6/7 wt. S2H117 is very diverse two-handed rod. Capable of delivering a wide variety of full floating and interchangeable sinking tip systems. As will all of the rods within the two handed series, it will easily and efficiently deliver all traditional spey casts, and classic fly presentations. Suitable for both dry lines and tips. It is an ideal rod for presenting over smaller rivers while pursuing clear water Summer Steelhead, and large Coastal and Interior Trout. The perfect two-hander for the small to medium sized Great Lakes Tribs Steelheading. Although the rod is only 11'7" long, weighs around 6.25 oz. and in the hand feels as light as most 5/6 wt. single hand rods... By no means is it a "toy." Quite the contrary, as the 11'7" 5/6/7 has a long and strong testimonial history of landing fish well into the 10 to 12 pound range. When used as a two handed overhead rod, it has proven to be a very effective shallow salt water flats rod for Bones, Snook and Reds. These are often gin clear ~ calf deep wading environments, and the 11'7" will drop accurate, long distance deliveries, with the soft landings often demanded by these extremely spooky fish. The 11'7" is meant for the two-handed angler that truly enjoys pursuing the larger river borne game fish, or extreme burst speed salt-water flats species with minimal graphite.
S2H12667 ~ 12'6" ~ 5 pc. 6/7 wt. Fast Progressive New for 2005
The S2H12667 is very similar in capabilities to the S2H117, but has the additional length favored by many two-handed anglers for their lightweight spey rods. Like the 11'7", the 12'6" rod is extremely light in the hand, very authoritive on the delivery, and will perform all two-handed presentations with ease, and suitable for both dry lines and tips. An additional bonus is at 5 pieces; the rod will pack away into a very small tube. Perfect for the traveling angler.
S2H12678 ~ 12'6" ~ 5 pc. ~ 7/8 wt. Fast Progressive New for 2005
The S2H12678 is a fast recovery progressive. She's quick, extremely light in weight, and ery responsive. It is an ideal Summer Steelheader, lightweight Winter Steelheader and Salmon rod to 20 plus pounds. An ideal rod for fishing the small to mid size rivers in clear low water conditions, capable of delivering dry lines, tips, and Scando shooting heads, all in excess of 90 feet. The perfect light line rod for Summer early morning and dusk greaselining/skating. Suitable for all game fish to 25 pounds.
These 3 piece two handed rods allow the entry level angler the opportunity to purchase a fine quality finished rod or blank at an affordable price.
This is an excellent series of fast recovery ~ progressive action two handers. These have a very authoritive, yet friendly delivery with plenty of butt reserve to rip sinking tip systems as easily as they will present floating lines... An excellent series of rods to cover a broad range of river conditions.
All of these rods will deliver a full spectrum of two handed lines: Short and mid-length belly spey lines, both full floating and with sink tips, as well as Skagit/Scandinavian shooting head sink tip line systems
The 6/7 weight is an exceptional rod. It is a no-nonsense, two handed rod that will deliver line with authority. These are perfect rods for big Coastal Trout, and beach cruising Coho. Also the ideal low water Summer, or clear water Winter Steelheading rod. The perfect rod for pursuing all Anadromous gamefish in any small to medium sized river system.
Over the past Summer Steelhead seasons the 6/7 beached many fish in the 6 to 12 pound range on the Upper Rogue, North Umpqua, and Klamath Drainage rivers. These are all exceptional dry line fisheries, with large Summer fish often moving to swung soft hackle emergers, sparse wet fly, and skated October Caddis patterns. The 6/7 at 13 ft. makes this experience an absolute joy. The rod is a true 6/7 wt., yet has enough graphite to deliver with authority, and quickly defeat the 15 pound plus fish.
The 7/8 and 8/9 wts. are excellent mid range rods for delivering all short to mid-belly length full floating, and sink tip line systems, as well as Skagit, and Scando shooting head sink tip line systems. The 7/8 and 8/9 weights are capable of easily defeating all Anadromous gamefish well into the mid 30 pound range.
The 9/10 wt. is a lightweight cannon. An ideal rod for both large Summer and Winter Steelhead as wall as large bi-coastal Salmon into the 50 pound plus range.
S2H13678 ~ 13' ~ 4pc. ~ 7/8 wt. ~ Fast Progressive New for 2005
The S2H13678 is fast recovery, progressive action rod with a traditional feel. Although it is a very friendly dry line rod, it does have ample reserve in the lower end. It will easily deliver tips to type 8 sink if needed, and Scando shooting heads..Making it an all-purpose light line small to medium sized river rod, perfect for Summer or clear water Winter conditions. This is a sweetheart small river rod for working low, clear water presentations such as skating, riffle hitching, and grease lining wets and dries. The effective working distance of this rod is in excess of 90 feet. The S2H13678 will easily handle fish into the mid 20 pound range.
S2H13 ~ 13' ~ 4pc. ~ 8/9 wt. ~ Fast Progressive New for 2005
The S2H1389 is designed for those anglers that prefer a bit more
diversity of delivery in the 13 ft. rod.
By putting the 13 ft. rod into the very diverse mid-range line weight category, it does up-the-ante in overall use when compared to the 13678. Although the 1389 can be an extremely friendly dry line rod, it will also rip tips with minimal effort, and deliver them into the 90 to 100 ft. range if needed.
It does not have a stiff "tip action" typical of most fast recovery fly rods. Rather, the blanks progressive taper will allow the rod to distribute required energy from the tip well into the butt when called on, whether the rod is partially or fully line loaded... This making the rod a very easy and friendly rod to cast over a long day on the water. The 1389 will handle fish into the mid 30 pound range.
S2H13910 ~ 13' ~ 4 pc ~ 9/10/11 wt ~ Fast Progressive New for 2005
The 13' 10/11 was designed with large Salmon and Steelhead in mind.
The S2H131011 is in all respects a serious piece of graphite!
It is a very "design specific" rod. It was designed to deliver short belly spey lines with heavy tips or Scando shooting head systems to 1200 grains...But most importantly, to defeat large fish quickly in very tight quarters. At 13 ft and 10/11 wt, the rod will easily lever the large Salmon, yet in the hands of most anglers; have a length suitable for efficient delivery.
Our primary intent with this rod was to design an extremely authoritive two hander that would be capable of quickly defeating, and releasing the large, lice bright Salmon. This so as not to burden the bright fish with a long potentially fatal battle so early on in it's up-river journey.
When asked what it was like to land a bright, 50 pound plus King in a small stream environment one of my clients replied: "It was like having a fist fight with two guys in a phone booth"... With this in mind, the 13' 10/11 wt. was conceived!
Again, although this is a high modulus, fast recovery rod, it is not a "broomstick". It will progressively flex well into the butt section, making it a very comfortable rod to cast.
This rod was initially developed to present extreme sink rate shooting head systems while pursuing Fall run Kings heading up the smaller Mid and South coast Oregon rivers. Many of these fish are targeted in the surf, or at the high tide mouths.
At high tide, with correct river flows, the Kings will breach the mouth in numbers, sliding over the bar with each wave. They then often stall at the confluence of the in-coming high tide and out-flowing stream, stacked-up, and nosing into the seam created by this confluence.
Custom tips may be required to quickly plummet deep into the seams, plus the currents can be strong and complex. Distances to the seams at high tide can be extreme, often beyond 90 feet, so two-handed overhead presentations from the sand can be a very effective delivery option. It does take a bit of graphite to deliver heavy tips into this often times windy environment. The same is true for the surf.
Although the traditional spey deliveries were this rods targeted intent, we have learned that with balanced lines, the 13' 10/11 will also deliver two-handed overhead presentations extremely well.
Depending on how this rod is built, it will easily defeat fish well into the 70-pound plus range.
S2H136FES ~ 13'6" ~ 4 pc. ~ 7/8 wt. ~ Fast Progressive
Many two handed anglers consider 13'6" to be the most useful and efficient length of rod for overall use on medium sized rivers. This is a rather important consideration in lieu of the fact that most of us in actuality have only small to medium sized rivers readily available to us. I personally prefer this length myself for nearly all of the rivers that I fish here in Southern Oregon, using the longer rods on the wider, classic flow freestone rivers found to the North.
As is typical of all of the rods within the S2H series, I have tried to avoid tapers that would create a rod with an overly "stiff" feel. One of the most consistent requests heard from my clientele has been to build a series of rods that would be comfortable to cast over a long day on the water. By far and large we have been asked to design rods that would have an authoritive, yet caster friendly delivery. A well-designed progressive tapered two-handed rod will uniformly flex from the tip well into the lower third of the blank, and efficiently draw power from the blank's lower third reserve. The 13678 does without question meet this profile, and has proven to be a very popular fast, lighter action mid-size river rod. This rod will handle fish into the mid 30-pound range.
S2H136 ~ 13'6" ~ 4pc. ~ 8/9 wt. ~ Fast Progressive
I am often asked by anglers to recommend rods for their chosen watersheds, and one of the most common requests will be to recommend an "all purpose" rod. In my opinion this is a mighty tough question to answer, as our two-handed fishing environments are very diverse. To ask of one rod to carry out all of the required presentations and technique throughout the fishing season over a complex watershed is in all honesty a very difficult task.
But, if I am asked to single out one rod that will perform MOST efficiently over this diversity, I will recommend the 13'6" for 8/9 weight.
The 13689 is a workhorse rod that has more then enough power and length to effectively present a wide variety of lines over medium sized rivers throughout seasonal anadromous runs. I do consider this to be my overall "Go To Rod" for medium sized rivers.
Again, as is typical of all of the rods within the S2H series, the 13689 does have a classic progressive action, and when loaded, will draw
power from well within the blank's full length reserve. The recovery is fast. This rod will handle fish into the 40-pound range.

S2H15910MKS ~ 15' ~ 4 pc ~ 9/10 wt. ~ Skagit Style ~ Fast/Med Fast progressive
The MKS series was designed with direction from Mike Kinney, and are named after him.
The MKS rods are all based on the Skagit style family of two-handed rods, all with fast/medium fast recovery progressive actions.
The Skagit style of rod taper starts with a very fast recovery, powerful top end.. Progressing, and increasing in power through the taper as it heads towards to the bottom two-thirds of the blank. >From this point the taper slows a bit, to allow the caster a friendly connection to sense loading well into the grip.
These are rods designed specifically to un-hinge, and deliver lots of advanced weight -forward head grainage, and extreme sink tips from the anchor. They are no-nonsense, very authoritive casting tools. All with ample power to not only deliver a broad range of lines to both Summer and Winter Steelhead, but also to defeat all Salmon species as well....Equally at home as grease liners as they are at delivering and swinging 24 feet of T-14, over a wide variety of river systems, in equally diverse river conditions.
These are thoughtfully designed two-handers with equal emphasis on both casting and fishing.
We are extremely proud of all of the new rods that we have introduced this past year, and all that have taken part in the development of these new rods feel that they represent the finest collection of rods now available world wide for the two-handed angler. Universally over the years, we have continually received requests from both regional and world traveled anglers for a series of 5 and 6 piece 14,15, and 16 foot rods.
...Rods that would not only travel with ease, but more importantly: Rods that would fish extremely well throughout the worlds two handed environment. All that have cast these rods feel without question that we have accomplished this goal.
All of the rods within this series are fast recovery with progressive actions. They will all fully aerialize long belly lines as easily and effortlessly as they will the mid-length belly lines and Scandinavian/Skagit shooting head systems. The ease with which all of the rods will present line has been one of the consistent comments made by anglers. All of the rods within this series are perfectly balanced and very caster friendly, yet extremely authoritive..Generating tight loop, long distance, ascending deliveries.
Their helical ply multi-modulus lay-ups allow them to be among the lightest in rod weight, and certainly the most durable of any series of two-handed rods worldwide.

The 14' 8/9/10 is a medium line long rod designed to cover a broader range of medium sized river conditions. At 8/9/10 wt. it will aide the angler in covering the off color conditions often found on our rivers during periods of Summer glacial or snow melt, or seasonal rains..But is still light enough in hand that the angler will not feel burdened by excess graphite when utilizing dry line, clear water presentations.
As are all of the rods from this series, she is a fast recovery progressive, that demands grain to dig into the full reserve, allowing tight looped, crisp, long distance deliveries while utilizing all contemporary two-handed line systems.
Suitable for medium sized rivers for both clear and off color Large Summer and Winter Steelheading or large Salmon into the 40 pound range.
S2H15789 ~ 15'0" 5 pc 7/8/9 wt. Fast progressive: 7/8 wt long belly lines ~ 8/9 wt mid-length belly lines. New for 2005
New for 2005 The 15' 7/8/9 is a light line long rod designed for the angler that wishes to consistently, and effortlessly reach just a bit further then the distances normally achieved with 14 foot rod. She is a rod that can be used effectively on both large and medium sized rivers.
As is the 14' 7/8/9, the 15 footer is a superb low water, dry line rod..But at 15 ft. still has plenty of authority to deliver the full gamut of sink tips and Scandinavian shooting heads extreme distances if needed.
Some anglers would consider this to be a specialty "niche rod". I feel that the lightweight 15 ft rod is an extremely diverse medium to big river tool, capable of a wide range of applications, fully effective throughout all angling seasons.
The 15 ft 7/8/9 is suitable for all medium to large sized rivers, for both clear and off color conditions. Large Summer and Winter Steelhead, and large Salmon into the 40 pound plus range.
S2H158910 ~15'0" 5 pc 8/9/10 wt. fast progressive: 8/9 wt long belly lines ~ 9/10 wt mid-length belly lines. New for 2005
New for 2005 The 15' 8/9/10 is a medium line long rod suitable for all river conditions found on both medium to large sized rivers. This is a very serious rod, capable of long distance deliveries with a broad range of line systems.
We actually have very few rivers in all of the America's that would be out of range with this rod, and certainly any large river in the lower 48 could thoroughly and affectively be covered with this rod throughout all seasons.
Consistent qualities of all of the S2H two handers is their superb balance, "light-in-hand" feel, and extremely friendly, yet authoritive delivery. The 15' 8/9/10 is no exception to this; in fact many anglers when first casting this rod have mistaken it for a light line 14 footer. A real bonus when a guy is under big graphite for a long day on the river.
Suitable for all river sizes, in all season conditions: Large Summer and Winter Steelhead, and all large Salmon to 50 pounds plus.
S2H16789 ~16'0" 6 pc 7/8/9 wt. fast progressive: 7/8 wt long belly lines ~ 8/9 wt mid-length belly lines. New for 2005
New for 2005 The S2H16789 is a totally unique 16' ~ light line 6 pc. two-hander. It can truly be called a "niche rod".
The 16' 7/8/9 was originally rolled as the low end line weight "benchmark rod" used as a stepping-stone in the design process of the targeted 9/10/11 wt. 16 footer.
But the rod proved to be so much fun to present 7/8 wt. long belly dry lines that all who were involved in the development process of the 16 footer demanded that we keep this rod!
It is truly a sweet action, fast recovery big river rod. Perfect for the extremely long -distance delivery; side-step-swing even flow hydraulics common to our largest even gradient rivers. An absolute joy to cast and fish light line wet fly and sunk tip swing.
S2H1691011 ~ 16' 6pc 9/10/11 wt. fast progressive: 9/10 wt long belly lines ~ 10/11 wt mid-length belly lines . New for 2005
