R.B. Meiser Salt Water Two Handers and Switch Rods

All of the rods within the two handed and switch rod salt water series are fast, to extra fast recovery rods. All are specifically designed to meet the diverse and demanding needs of the serious two handed salt water angler.

These are rods that are designed to cover literally all salt water environments: From calm back water estuarine bays and channels, to beach environments. Suitable for all shallow salt water game fish: From Schoolie Stripers to Tarpon.

When balanced to appropriate shooting head systems, all of the rods within this series are capable of achieving necessary fishing distances with minimal expended energy on the part of the caster. All of the rods within this series are suitable for both two handed overhead, and classic two handed anchor point Spey deliveries.

Standard two handed shooting head line systems, and baskets are best suited for mid to long distance overhead deliveries. These are Ideal line systems for repetitive mid to long distance deliveries that could (over a long day on the water) physically burden the single hand double haul caster.

The extreme grain weight forward short belly shooting heads (such as Skagit shooting heads and tips) are best suited for the classic anchor point Spey deliveries from the wash or flats. These are ideal shooting systems allowing easy line management, and quick two handed shots over fish within a board range of distances. Once learned, this delivery style can be an incredibly effective, and a lethal technique to have in your two handed salt water arsenal.

The longer 13'0" and 14'0" rods are an ideal length for mending line over the curl, allowing the angler to keep working the fly "in the zone" for a longer period of time, minimizing the need for re-delivery.

All of the Rods Within This Series Will Be Built Utilizing Salt Water Durable Components.

  • Reel seats will be Struble salt water duty U15HG or U18HG seats, these available in Green, Blue, Black, and Pewter anodized finishes.
  • Stripper guides will be Titanium framed SIC ceramic strippers.
  • Running guides will be Titanium snakes and tip tops.
Salt Water Two Handed Rods

Salt Water Switch Rods


Over the past five years, the "Switch Rod" concept has gained a strong following from within the salt-water fly fishing community.

As with all of our rods, the development of the Switch Rod series is a direct result of an accumulation of feedback and requests by anglers searching for efficient and diverse casting tools. Salt water anglers demand a lot from their rods: They must be durable, yet light in weight, capable of defeating large fish with extreme burst speed potential.

At times, their rods must be able to launch huge flies, punching heavily grained shooting head systems extreme distances into strong winds. At other times their deliveries demand delicate, accurate soft landing presentations over glass water spooky fish. They must present equally well from the deck of a craft as well as they will from the rocks, jetty's, flats,and beach...Conditions that will often times far surpass the diversity and scale of difficulty when compared to those found in most fresh water angling environments.

The Salt Water Switch Rod series was developed to meet all of these demands. In fact time and again I have been told by previously reluctant or skeptical anglers that these rods have not only met their expectations, but have far surpassed them.

...One of the primary functions and logical applications of the switch rod concept is to allow the angler to minimize, or indeed totally eliminate the physical burden of the repetitive "all day on the water" single hand double haul delivery.
